Since before the Great War, the ancient Rakatan prisons of Belsavis have been maintained by the Republic and used to incarcerate some of the galaxy’s most dangerous Sith lords, Mandalorian warriors, and ferocious aliens. Having recently discovered the location of this Republic super prison, the Empire is determined to see its allies released.

"For me, the challenge – and the fun – of writing the Jedi Consular is keeping a sense of balance between intelligence and arrogance, between what’s right and what could win the war against the Empire. A Jedi Consular must sometimes accept the grayer path, the less perfect choice. He or she must make the decisions the Republic can’t, in order to save it."Be sure to check it out.

You absolutely will not have had to play KOTOR to understand The Old Republic. Even for fans of the series the last KOTOR game was years ago so it would be silly for us to expect people to have an encyclopedic knowledge at their fingertips. We want both the most casual fans of just the Star Wars movies and harcore fans of the entire extended universe to be comfortable in The Old Republic. If you have to possess a knowledge of extensive backstory in order to follow a story we've failed in our job as writers. That said, there will be plenty of interesting things to discover for both fans of the KOTOR series and the extended universe as a whole.Great news indeed.

Once home to a thriving civilization, Taris was razed by the Sith Lord Darth Malak 300 years ago during the Jedi Civil War. As a symbol of hope, redemption, and defiance, the Republic has begun an unlikely effort to re-colonize Taris. Determined to overcome the challenges, Republic and Jedi leaders are moving forward with the effort. However, Imperial intelligence has other plans…
The twenty-sixth issue of Threat of Peace delivers the final moments of the battle between the Sith and the Jedi in Dantooine's crystal caves. The death of Master Dar’Nala restores the prospects for peace and Jedi Knight Satele Shan refused to continue the fight. As the Republic heroes guardedly depart the crystal caves, Lord Baras offers one final opportunity to Satele and a chilling prediction for the future.Star Wars: The Old Republic, Threat of Peace is being developed as a collaborative venture between BioWare, LucasArts, and Dark Horse Comics. When we set out to build our game, we knew we needed more than one Sith class. The original trilogy only has two Sith in it, but they couldn’t be more different: the heavily armored brutal physicality of Darth Vader compared to the frail but immensely powerful Emperor Palpatine. When we extend our inspiration to Episodes I-III and The Clone Wars cartoons, Count Dooku, Darth Maul, and Asajj Ventress further expand our concept of what a Sith can be. Is a Sith a lithe quick fighter who uses the Force to enhance his/her physical combat prowess, a calculating deceiver adept at Lightsaber duels, or a master manipulator and amasser of dark side secrets? Does a Sith use one lightsaber, two Lightsabers, or a dual-bladed Lightsaber? Having multiple Sith classes allows us to embrace all of those Sith inspirations, instead of having one Sith class that was the jack-of-all-trades and the master of none.Be sure to check out the entire Sith Inquisitor developer blog.

The twenty-fifth issue of Threat of Peace begins in the heat of the fight between the Jedi and the Sith in Dantooine's crystal caves. Lord Baras confronts Satele Shan with the fact that her Master was responsible for the attacks that threatened the peace process. When Satele hesitates, Lord Baras tries to urge her towards the dark side, even as Master Dar'Nala screams at Satele to strike the Sith Lord down...Star Wars: The Old Republic, Threat of Peace is being developed as a collaborative venture between BioWare, LucasArts, and Dark Horse Comics. It’s only a few hours till tomorrow’s update but I wanted to go ahead and post this now. Tomorrow’s update will be Threat of Peace #25. We realize some may be a little dismayed by this, especially after all of the updates we were having towards the end of 2009.We have personally received quite a few questions about the lack of TOR news lately. Trade show season is fast approaching and we will have a summer full of breaking news to cover soon. With the game still not due out for another year, Bioware can not be expected to keep the hype train rolling week after week.
While we have announced our target launch window, we also realize there is a lot of information to release between now and then. We met with the development team soon after returning from the holiday break and discussed some of the information we want to release. In going over that, we decided to wait on a few things to ensure we are giving the community the most accurate information possible. We understand that pretty much everyone would love to have all the information about The Old Republic now but we wouldn't be serving the community properly if we told you all about a particular feature or mechanic only for it to be completely different than the way we explained it when The Old Republic releases.
We definitely have some new reveals and announcements coming up but I wanted to inform everyone that our next couple of updates won't be those. And while I'd like nothing better than to tell you what is on the horizon, I can't for the very same reason as I talked about above. We have a plan on what information we want to release and when we want to release it but we always make sure the rest of the team is confident with the information we are releasing before we put it out there.
We know that some of you come here weekly and some even daily no matter what information we release because you enjoy interacting with the community. But we also know that some come here for new information and we want to make sure you get that when it is made available. Here are our suggestions on making sure you know what's going on with The Old Republic if you don't wish to check the forums.
Like I said, we understand that some may be upset with this news and we definitely encourage getting feedback from the community, to include constructive criticism. We just ask that you read over your posts before hitting "submit" to ensure they are not violating any of the rules and guidelines of this community.
- Sign up for The Old Republic newsletter. Starting this month, we plan on sending them out at the end of each month highlighting any updates that have occurred. We will also send out "Community Alerts" for any major announcements that are released usually within a few hours of that announcement being made.
- Follow us on some of the more popular social networks where we bring that information to you. We have pages on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and YouTube.
- Get our updates in your RSS Reader. We have RSS Feeds for our News Section, Media Section, and our HoloNet updates.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.
